Before you buy
Your phone needs two things: eSIM support and a carrier unlock. Dial *#06#. If the screen lists an EID, the phone supports eSIM. If the phone was bought on an installment plan from a carrier, ask them to confirm it is unlocked for other networks.
Supported models include iPhone XR/XS and newer (including SE 2020+), Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Z Fold/Flip, A54/A55, Google Pixel 3 and newer, Motorola Razr/Edge, Xiaomi 12T and newer. Devices sold in mainland China and some Hong Kong models do not include eSIM even when the global version does.
Install on iPhone
- Open the email or the order page and keep the QR code on a second screen (laptop, another phone, or print it).
- Go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code and scan it. No second screen? Choose Enter Details Manually and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code from the same email.
- Label the new line TerraRoam so it is easy to find.
- When asked which line to use for cellular data, keep your home line for now. You will switch on arrival.
- Leave Data Roaming for the TerraRoam line on. It is required: the eSIM works in “roaming” mode on the local partner network.
Install on Android
- Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM → Scan QR code. Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Download a SIM instead. Other brands follow the same path under Mobile network.
- Scan the QR code, or choose manual entry and paste the activation code (the string that starts with LPA:1$).
- Name the profile TerraRoam and keep it switched off until you land.
Activate on arrival
- Turn the TerraRoam line on and set it as the line for mobile data. Keep your home SIM active for calls and SMS codes if you wish; just make sure its data roaming is off so it does not bill you.
- Make sure Data Roaming is on for the TerraRoam line.
- Give it up to two minutes to register. If the carrier name does not appear, choose the network manually (Settings → Cellular → TerraRoam → Network Selection → turn off Automatic, then pick one of the networks listed on your plan page).
Not connecting?
- No signal after landing: toggle Airplane Mode on and off, then re-check Data Roaming for the TerraRoam line.
- Connected but no internet: check the APN. Most plans work automatically; if yours lists an APN on the order page, enter it under the TerraRoam line's Cellular Data Network settings.
- “Unable to complete cellular plan change”: the QR was already used or the phone is carrier-locked. Write to us with your order number; we re-issue the eSIM when it has not been activated.
- Slow speeds: switch the preferred network type to 4G/LTE if 5G keeps dropping; in rural areas pick the network with the best coverage from the plan page.
Top-ups & validity
Validity starts at the first connection abroad and runs continuously for the number of days on the plan. Data does not roll over. You can top up the same eSIM from the link in your order email at any time before it expires; a top-up keeps the same profile, nothing to reinstall. Plans are data-only and include personal hotspot.
Contact support
Real people in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Include your order number (it starts with TR-) and a screenshot of Settings → Cellular so we can help faster.
